Benefits of Installing an EV Charger at Home
Convenience: Charge your vehicle overnight without the need to visit a public charging station.
Cost Savings: Home electricity rates are generally lower than public charging station fees.
Increased Property Value: An installed EV charger can boost your home's appeal to potential buyers.
Environmental Impact: Charging at home, especially if paired with renewable energy sources like solar panels, reduces your carbon footprint.
Level 1 EV Chargers
Uses a standard 120-volt outlet, typically included with the vehicle.
Charging Time: 3 to 5 miles of range per hour and 8 - 20 hours for a full charge, depending on the vehicle’s battery capacity.
Best For: Overnight charging at home, suitable for plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) and EVs with smaller batteries.
Level 2 EV Chargers
Requires a 240-volt outlet, similar to what is used for large home appliances.
Charging Time: 25 to 30 miles of range per hour. 4 - 8 hours for a full charge, depending on the vehicle’s battery capacity.
Best For: Home installations, workplaces, and public charging stations; ideal for daily use.
EV Charger Brands We Install
We install every major Level 2 home and commercial EV charger on the market. The right brand depends on your vehicle, your driveway setup, and whether you want WiFi connected smart features. Common installations include:
Tesla Wall Connector - The standard for Tesla owners and now compatible with most non Tesla EVs through the NACS connector. Hardwired, weather rated, and supports up to 48 amps.
ChargePoint Home Flex - WiFi enabled, app controlled, and works on either a 240 volt outlet or hardwired. Popular with homeowners who want to schedule charging during off peak PECO rates.
Wallbox Pulsar Plus - Compact, fast, and supports load balancing if your panel is near capacity. A good choice for tighter garages or when a panel upgrade is not in the budget.
JuiceBox 40 and 48 - Reliable workhorse charger that handles most EVs with no fuss. Smart features available.
Emporia EV Charger - Budget friendly Level 2 option with strong reliability and energy monitoring built in.
Grizzl-E - Hardwired only, very durable, no smart features. A solid choice for outdoor installs in harsh weather.
Not sure which charger fits your vehicle and home? We will recommend the right unit based on your EV, your panel capacity, and how you use your car day to day.
What to Expect During Your EV Charger Installation
Most residential Level 2 EV charger installs are completed in a single day. Here is how the process works from the first call to the final test:
Step 1: Free On Site Evaluation
We come to your home, look at your panel, your meter, and where you want the charger mounted. We measure the run distance from your panel to the install location and check the available capacity in your service. This visit is free, and you walk away with a written estimate.
Step 2: Charger Selection and Permit
If you have not already chosen a charger, we will recommend one based on your vehicle and panel. We pull the electrical permit with your township so the install is fully code compliant and inspected.
Step 3: Installation Day
We arrive with the charger and all materials. A typical install takes four to six hours. Work includes running the new circuit from your panel, installing the breaker, mounting the charger, and weatherproofing any outdoor connections. We protect your floors, clean up after ourselves, and walk you through how to use the charger before we leave.
Step 4: Inspection and Activation
The township inspector visits to sign off on the work. Once approved, your charger is fully active and ready to use every day. We handle scheduling the inspection so you do not have to.
How Much Does EV Charger Installation Cost in Philadelphia?
For most homes in Delaware County and the Main Line, a fully installed Level 2 EV charger ranges from $800 to $2,500 including the unit, materials, permit, and labor. Several factors move that number up or down:
Distance from your panel to the install location. Longer runs mean more wire, more labor, and sometimes a larger conduit.
Whether the install is indoor or outdoor. Outdoor mounts require weatherproof boxes, sealed conduit, and sometimes a protective bollard.
Panel capacity. If your panel is full or undersized, you may need a panel upgrade before the charger can be installed safely. We cover this in detail on our Electrical Panels and Service Upgrades page.
Charger type. A basic hardwired Level 2 unit costs less than a smart WiFi connected charger with load management.
Permit and inspection fees. These vary by township. We include them in our written estimate so there are no surprises.
We provide a written, itemized estimate at the end of every site visit. No hidden fees, no upselling.
EV Charger Rebates and Tax Credits in Pennsylvania
There are several rebate and tax credit programs that can offset the cost of your EV charger installation. The biggest ones available to Pennsylvania homeowners and businesses include:
Federal Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit. Homeowners in eligible census tracts can claim a tax credit of 30 percent of the install cost, up to $1,000. Most rural and lower income tracts in Delaware County qualify. We can tell you whether your address is eligible during your site visit.
PA DEP Driving PA Forward Program. Provides rebates to businesses, municipalities, and nonprofits that install Level 2 or DC fast chargers. Funding levels and availability change yearly.
PECO Rebates. PECO occasionally offers EV charger rebates through their efficiency programs. Check the PECO website for current offers, as these programs are updated each year.
Local Utility and Township Programs. Some Delaware County and Main Line townships offer additional incentives. We will let you know what is available in your area.
We are happy to point you to the right paperwork and help time your install around active rebate windows. We do not file rebates on your behalf, but we provide every receipt and document you need to submit.
Commercial and Multi Family EV Charging Installations
We install EV chargers for businesses, apartment complexes, condo associations, and commercial parking lots across the greater Philadelphia area. Whether you need a single Level 2 charger for an employee parking spot or a full bank of Level 3 DC fast chargers for a fleet operation, we can scope, design, permit, and install the project.
For multi family properties we work directly with HOA boards and property managers to handle the planning, electrical load assessment, metering, and tenant access setup. For commercial properties we coordinate with PECO if a service upgrade is required and handle all permitting through your township.

EV Charger Installation FAQs
What types of EV chargers do you install?
We install Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 (DC Fast Chargers). Level 2 chargers are the most popular for residential use, as they provide a faster charge than Level 1 and are compatible with most electric vehicles. Level 3 chargers are typically used in commercial settings and offer the fastest charging speeds.
How long does it take to charge an electric vehicle?
Charging time depends on the type of charger and your vehicle's battery size:
Level 1: Adds about 3-5 miles of range per hour.
Level 2: Adds 25-30 miles of range per hour.
Level 3: (DC Fast Charger): Can charge up to 80% of your battery in 20-40 minutes.
Do I need to upgrade my electrical panel for an EV charger?
In some cases, yes. If your panel is older or already close to capacity, an upgrade may be required. We will assess your current electrical system during our site visit and recommend any necessary changes.
How much does it cost to install an EV charger?
The cost varies based on factors such as the type of charger, electrical upgrades needed, and installation complexity. On average, residential Level 2 charger installations range from $500 to $2,000, including equipment and labor.
What rebates or incentives are available for installing an EV charger?
There are often federal, state, and local incentives available for EV charger installations. These can include tax credits, utility rebates, and special programs. We can help guide you through the process to take advantage of any available incentives.
Can you install an EV charger in my condo or apartment?
Yes, we can work with property managers or HOA boards to install a charger in shared parking areas or garages. It may require additional planning and permission, but we have experience handling these types of installations.
How do I know which EV charger is right for my vehicle?
We can help you choose the right charger based on your vehicle’s make and model, your driving habits, and your home’s electrical capacity. Most EVs are compatible with Level 2 chargers, which offer a good balance of speed and convenience.
Is it safe to install an EV charger at home?
Yes, installing a professionally installed EV charger is safe. We ensure that the charger is installed to meet local electrical codes and safety standards, and we offer a thorough inspection to ensure everything is functioning properly.
Do I need a permit for EV charger installation?
In most cases, a permit is required for the installation of an EV charger. We handle the permitting process for you to ensure compliance with local regulations.
Can I use my EV charger during a power outage?
Typically, EV chargers are not designed to operate during a power outage unless you have a backup power system like a generator or battery storage. We can discuss options if this is a concern for you.
How do I schedule a consultation for EV charger installation?
You can easily schedule a consultation by contacting us via our website or giving us a call. We’ll discuss your needs, perform a site evaluation, and provide a free estimate.
How do I maintain my EV charger?
EV chargers require minimal maintenance. We recommend periodic inspections to ensure everything is working correctly and to keep the area around the charger clear of debris.
Do you install Tesla Wall Connectors?
Yes. We are experienced installing Tesla Wall Connectors for both Tesla and non Tesla vehicles using the NACS connector. The Wall Connector is hardwired, supports up to 48 amps, and is one of the most reliable Level 2 chargers on the market.
Will my Level 2 charger work in cold weather?
Yes. All Level 2 chargers we install are rated for outdoor use and operate in temperatures well below freezing. We also install weatherproof enclosures and protective bollards on outdoor units to extend the life of the charger.
How far can the charger be from my electrical panel?
There is no hard limit, but the longer the run, the more wire and labor are required. Most home installs have the charger mounted within 30 to 50 feet of the panel. We can install runs of 100 feet or more when needed, and we will quote the additional cost during your free site visit.
